2023 Trends in Food & Beverage Manufacturing

The last two years have seen major upheavals in the food and beverage manufacturing industry. Will we see more of the same in 2023? Here are what the insider experts are saying to watch out for this year.

Expanded Traceability. Expect to see even more interest and emphasis on traceability. Since Covid consumers are paying far more attention to where their food comes from and brands that are transparent will benefit.

Increased Sustainability. Those who don’t put sustainability front and center risk being left behind. While ESG initiatives have been a low priority in the past, 2023 is the year where sustainability efforts will be a large driver of profit and shareholder value.

Be Prepared for Audits. With the pandemic threat receding in-person plant audits will increase. That means we’ll see more recalls as regulators catch things that might have been overlooked. It’s critical that you’re prepared for seamless audits.

AI and Machine Learning. Usage will increase to help overcome the ongoing labor shortage in the industry.

Expect Further Digitization Within the Industry. Only 50% of manufacturers are utilizing AI and Machine Learning. Expect to see more efforts to modernize to meet demands.

Crisis Management. In today’s environment one small mistake is amplified immediately across social media, potentially ruining margins and company value. It’s time to make sure you have a crisis manager in place to mitigate potential damage.

As the old saying goes, if you want to know the future, create it. The 2023 trends report is a good place to start.
